- Must be currently licensed in the State of Ohio.
- Must have a current Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate from
the American Heart Association.
- Must be knowledgeable regarding the State of Ohio's laws
regarding the functioning of EMT-B.'s.
- Must be able to pass a written, oral, and practical E.M.T. level
examination administered by the LifeCare educational section.
- Must have a valid State of Ohio driver's license, must have
maintained a driver's license for at least the previous two years
and must keep a clean driving record. Any points against license
must be reported and could be due cause for dismissal. All
employees must also meet all requirements imposed by the state and
federal governments with respect to individuals involved with
medical transportation, as well as all requirements of LifeCare's
insurance provider.
- Must physically be able to fulfill the role of EMT, with or
without a reasonable accommodation, which includes, but is not
limited to, lifting and moving patients weighing up to 150 pounds
without assistance and up to 300 pounds with the assistance of one
other crew member.
- Must be currently licensed in the State of Ohio as an E.M.T. - Paramedic.
- Must have a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider certificate from the American Heart Association.
- Must have a current Basic Cardiac Life Support provider certificate from the American Heart Association.
- Must secure and maintain State of Ohio PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or PEP (Pediatric Emergency Provider) and BTLS
(Basic Trauma Life Support) certifications immediately after beginning employment with LifeCare.
- Must be knowledgeable regarding the State of Ohio's laws regarding the functioning of E.M.T.'s & Paramedics
- Must be able to pass a written, oral, and practical E.M.T. and Paramedic level test administered by the LifeCare educational section.
- If driving, must have a valid State of Ohio driver's license, must have maintained a driver's license for at least the previous two years and must
keep a clean driving record. Any points against license must be reported and could be due cause for dismissal. All employees must also meet all
requirements imposed by the state and federal governments with respect to individuals involved with medical transportation, as well as all requirements
of LifeCare's insurance provider.
- Must physically be able to fulfill the role of EMT - Paramedic, with or without a reasonable accommodation which includes, but is not limited to,
lifting & moving patients weighing up to 150 pounds without assistance and up to 300 pounds with the assistance of one other crew member.
- Suggested to have 1-2 years previous Paramedic experience with an emergency medical service.
- Must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid Ohio driver's license, must have maintained a drivers license for at least the previous two (2)
years and must keep a clean driving record. Any points against license must be reported and could be cause for dismissal. All employees must
also meet all requirements imposed by the state and federal governments with respect to individuals involved with medical transportation, as well as
requirements of LifeCare's insurance provider.
- The qualifications of each driver and each attendant must satisfy all local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Each driver and each attendant must have a current card issued as proof of successful completion of the "American Red Cross" (or equivalent
certifying organization) basic course in first aid, as well as a CPR certificate or EMT certification.
- Each ambulette driver and each attendant must have completed a passenger assistance training course to include at a minimum the basic characteristics
of major disabling conditions affecting ambulation, basic considerations for functional factors, management of wheelchairs, assistance and transfer
techniques, environmental considerations, and emergency procedures.
- Each ambulette driver and each attendant must have an identification card available to the patient identifying his/her complete name and
company affiliation.
- Must be physically able to fulfill the role of wheelchair van driver and attendant, with or without a reasonable accommodation, which includes,
but is not limited to lifting and moving patients weighing up to 150 pounds without assistance and up to 300 pounds with the assistance of one other crew
member.
- Must perform other duties as assigned or required to allow for the smooth and efficient operation of the LifeCare wheelchair van service.
- Provide care that is observant and responsive to patient needs as they arise.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or (GED).
- Three to six months related experience.
- Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification, EMT Certification,
certifications through APCO, NENA, or Powerphone are desired.
- Must have the ability to maintain composure in an emergency
situation and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Must have proficiency with windows-based computer programs.
Responsibilities
- Positions in the Communications Center are accountable for
receiving 911 emergency calls, non-emergency transportaion calls,
and inner-office related phone calls.
- Communicators are reaponsible for understanding and using Nortel
phone systmes, ZOLLdata based CAD systems

mapping software, and multiple channel radio systems.
- Communicators should posses a hands on knowledge of the Lorain
County area.
- The commuications center is the central hub for LifeCare
Ambulance and commicators are expected to maintain professionalism
at all times.
